[MlMt] revert to default columns revert to different columns depending on mailbox...?

Hey,

Trying to get my default columns to be the same across all mailboxes.

I've setup defaults and it works in most mailboxes but in some they just
seem to revert to the old default list.

Is there a way to simply just reset all defaults to my preferred column
list ?

while on airplane I tried searching for "revert to different column" in
mailmate archives and I actually found a bunch of reports of my exact
issue.

Interesting enough the solution (or rather workaround) I found in an 11
month old mail.

SOLUTION: Nothing subtle. I spent a few hours trying to work out what
precisely was wrong and find a fix, but nothing worked. My final act
of desperation, accepting that I would at a minimum lose all
defaults delete com.freron.MailMate MmMailboxRelatedStates
And that did the trick. Yes, all my per-mailbox column settings were
gone, but whatever was causing trouble in that dictionary of settings
structures for 261 mailboxes also went away. Problem solved. As I read
the labels inside those structures, there seems to be nothing other
than display tweaks lost in whacking the whole thing, and doing so
restored my ability to make settings stick.
I ran that defaults delete and now my columns behave as expected and
revert to default now uses my defaults, not mailmate default defaults.

I can see 2 people evaluating mailmate also reporting this as a bug that
caused them to stay away.

So maybe worth looking into figuring out how/why MmMailboxRelatedStates
fixes this ? :)

For the sake of completion, the following clears the default set of
column:

defaults delete com.freron.MailMate

Definitely, but I'm afraid a proper fix requires a major refactoring of
how it currently works. It'll have to wait. The number one issue for new
users is still the handling of HTML emails when forwarding/replying.

I, too, have started to have this problem. It worked correctly for a
while, but is most annoying now that it has failed and seems to do so
over and over again even when using this workaround. At least you have
a workaround (sort of), even though I have to keep a sticky note with my
preferred columns and their sizes on my desk to recreate my preferences.

How often will I have to do this? so far, not too many times, but
frustration is rising. I personally would like to see this bumped up
higher on your list of bugs that need fixing.

If you cannot fix this soon, I'd like to ask that you please acknowledge
it and put this temporary workaround in your documentation for the next
release so we don't have to search the MailMate user's archive every few
days to find it again.

Thanks,
Helen

It sounds like it has gotten worse with the latest beta/test versions.
My own column settings are often quite chaotic due to all kinds of
testing and I might not notice that something basic is broken.

I'll do some general testing from scratch, but if you have steps to
reproduce a specific problem then please send them to me off list.

Hopefully I can fix whatever made it worse than it was in the past.

I am running 5107, but not your newest HTML test version. I only started
noticing this bug when I upgraded to this version, but it does keep
failing. I will try to locate what I am doing that makes this happen,
but I'll be away on vacation for a few days. I'll get back to you
offline if I have anything useful.
